What the Alaska District Does

The Alaska SWCD supports land owners and managers throughout the District by providing technical, educational and financial assistance, support, and accomplishing projects that benefit the lands and people within the AKSWCD boundaries, such as:

-Wildlife habitat revitalization
-Support of subsistence
-Support of agriculture, mariculture and forestry
-Serving our Cooperators
-Southeast Alaska Healthy Forest Program
-Natural resource education
-Control of invasive species

Alaska SWCD activities and the interaction with private land owners and managers is voluntary; not regulatory. The Alaska SWCD supports the conservation and wise use versus preservation of Alaska's privately-owned and managed natural resources.

The Alaska SWCD encourages and supports local land owners and managers to adopt Best Management Practices and to help developers and property owners with good stewardship, while supporting the development and use of those resources.
